JOB DESCRIPTION: Director of Youth ministries, social ministries
& Pastoral service ministries

POSITION SUMMARY
This position has three main components. As youth director this employee is responsible for organizing/coordinating under the Vincentian Marian Youth program, all youth activities/events for 13-25 year olds This requires coordinating those who volunteer to assist in youth ministries. As director of social ministries this employee is responsible for the organization, promotion and implementation of all assigned social events at the parish. As director of pastoral service ministries, this employee is responsible for the organization and promotion of parish outreach ministries to the poor and for coordinating with existing ministries in which the parish participates.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinates a core group of adults and youths to determine and direct programs and services.
Arranges for teens to participate in archdiocesan sponsored and other acceptable programs offered to teens or pre-teens in larger venues: i.e., regional, and national programs.
Conducts or arranges leadership training for youth ministry core group and teen leadership.
Provides programs for social outreach and service and directly involves parish teens; provides pastoral reflection on their experiences prior to, during and after experience.
Arranges occasional social gathering for teens.
Provides a catechetical component in youth gatherings and offers catechesis in other practical ways.
Recruits volunteers for all programs
promotes all events across all forms of communication that the parish uses.
Prepares budget and handles financial matters for programs.
Maintains an active presence on parish social media
Performs additional services as requested by pastor
QUALIFICATIONS
Practicing Roman Catholic with a commitment to his/her own faith life
A commitment to serving the poor.
Competent in using social media, Microsoft office, email, and other software and technology.
Able to communicate with all age groups, from varying cultural and social backgrounds.
Sensitive to controversial issues and able to respond according to Church teaching as articulated by the pastor.
Experience in youth ministry
Administration:
Reports to Pastor
Participate in parish events planning
Communicate to staff/leaders about youth ministry activities
Seek staff/leaders input in planning youth ministry activities
Be a resource person to parish staff/leaders on issues related to youth and youth ministry
Serve as the liaison with the pastor, parish staff/leaders and the Pastoral council
Collaborates with other staff/leaders in planning common projects
Works in collaboration with parish religious education and OLV School.
Operates within an established budget; monitors and fully accounts for spending and receipts.
Monitors adult volunteers for compliance with safe environment policies and general youth ministry policies of the archdiocese.
Professional and Spiritual Development:
Seeks continuing education and training in youth ministry.
Works with a spiritual director or mentor for personal spiritual growth and development to best meet the spiritual needs of the youth and young adults in the parish.
Participates in at least one personal retreat each year, not personally responsible for planning or leading, focusing on some aspect of spiritual growth.
Plans, schedules, and leads (or finds leaders for) an annual retreat for teens focusing on some aspect of spiritual growth.
Communication:
Keeps the parish and faith community informed of youth ministry activities and goals
Keeps informed of archdiocesan events, policies, and other programs.
Stays in communication with archdiocesan offices to meet resource needs; calls archdiocesan offices for support and help.
Is aware of community agencies and resources that interface with youth.
Develops the kind of relationship with parents that are conducive to open communication between parents and youth.
Provides pastoral guidance to teens and parents as needed individually and helps them find professional referrals when needed.
Arranges occasional parenting programs for parents of teens or pre-teens.
Necessary Qualifications:
Roman Catholic in good standing in the Church.
Strong commitment to the Catholic faith and relationship with God.
Fully compliant with archdiocesan policies such as safe environment/child protection requirements and fingerprinting.
Prior youth ministry experience, training in youth ministry or willingness to acquire and continue training.
High degree of comfort working with youth and awareness of appropriate boundaries.
Must be at least 21 years of age and in good emotional health.
B.A., M.A or certification in religious education, theology, youth ministry or related field preferred but not required.

Hours: Full time (7.5 hours/week) Supervised by: Parish Pastor Salary Range: $16 to $18/hour

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on an internal process and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider several factors when making compensation decisions including skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
