The celebration of All Saints Day has always been an important event in the OLV school year. Each student selects a saint they wish to study. Preschoolers study angels or a saint of their choice. This year we had many St. Michael the Archangels! Students learned songs to be sung during the Mass that reflect service and sainthood. In costume depicting their saint, students march into the sanctuary singing "When the Saints Go Marching In". At mass, they introduced the saint they were dressed as to the congregation during the homily. Students do a research project about their saint including country of birth, interesting facts, and what the saint is patron of. The trifold display boards include a map, report, and several illustrations about their saint. Each student explains the life of their saint to individuals from the congregation after Mass in the social hall. With spirited songs, and chimes chiming, All Saints Day continues to be a favorite Mass for our OLV students.
